2008 LAYOUT AT B&O RAILROAD MUSEUM
FIRST DAY OF SETUP - 11/22/08
[home page]
BEFORE -There is a nice big empty spot where our railroad will go.  Joe and Lee are bringing in the first few loads from the truck.
UNLOADING IN THE COLD - It was a very cold and windy day so we worked that much faster.  Don, Rick, Bob, and Art pose by the near-empty truck.
LEGWORK - most of the table legs are already installed, and now we are fabricating new legs for the new corner modules.
OOPS! - Looks like somebody had a little too much to drink when they installed this track!  We moved the module next to a blank module where we could make it work.
TOO TIGHT - the tracks on the new modules are spaced a little wider at the portals than last year.  Moving the portal a half inch to the left did the trick.
FORWARD PROGRESS - The Budd Car inched forward with every module we hooked up.  Jeff noticed the spots where the Budd Car got zapped a few years ago.
SKY HIGH MODULE - Lee and Don lift a module up high, not to install it up there, just to pick it up over the other modules. LOW RIDER MODULE - The trestle module is in its "travel mode" and Don is unbolting the legs so it will match up with the rest of the modules.
YARD TRACKS - We all forgot to bring any pictures or diagrams from last year, but we managed to figure it out OK. There is one more switch off camera to the right which gives us seven nice long yard tracks. ALMOST DONE - by 3:00 we had all the modules hooked up, most of the track installed, plexiglass installed, and scenery done on most modules.  The backdrops are next, and then tomorrow we will finish track, do wiring, and apply skirting.
